Japanese Ceramics Tea Bowl

We were tasked to design and manufacture a Japanese Ceramic Tea Bowl. The bowl had to reference the deeply-rooted  Wabi-Sabi. The tea bowl, a Chawan, had to be designed for the use in the Japanese Tea Ceremony.
Design is inspired by the handmade bowl, the bubbles that the oxides caused, inspired the texture on the final bowl. The top half of the bowl was created to be perfect, with a perfect rounded top and smooth finished surface. The idea that the bottom half "broke off" was inspired by Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates cracks and crevice caused by time and weather as well as seeing the beauty in imperfections
Thank you!
