DEV THE MYSTIC WARRIOR
CREATURE TEXTURING LOOK DEVELOPMENT
The work presented below are few of the characters I had the pleasure to work on with my friend Srini (who modeled all of them) for Thought Cloud Studio (Thought Cloud's website is removed and the studio either closed or moved into a new brand).
NAKAL
Arguably Nakal was one of my favourite character that I worked on from, it's transformation from this cute and cuddly to 'I will strip to shreds,' form was amazing. It was great to work on this character and though we had concept art from TCS, they had given us a free reign on the skin's overall look in Arnold. The image to the right was just for me to get a feel for the skin, it had nothing to do with TCS's final shot or the series.
THE BEAR
I haven't seen the show, Dev the Mystic Warrior and not sure how it plays out, so I am guessing from the concept art that this is a she-bear, and it was a bit difficult to try and get cartoony looking fur texture, without actual fur on it. I think both the skin variants are used in the show.
CHARIOT HORSE
Yes, TCS had taken some inspiration from Maximus from Tangled and that's why the similarity. I think there will be multiple colour variation to him. Overall, was fun painting & shading this character.
GURU AUM
Another fun character to work on, I wish there was hair system on Guru Aum, he would have looked fabulous with it, I really enjoyed working on this character. It's enjoyable when you have think and plan for something simple as this, where adding details in texture as to be an educated decision so as to not to break the concept.
