Krane- Ceramic Salt and Pepper Shaker

The Krane salt and pepper shaker was inspired by the body of  South Africa's national bird known as the Blue Crane. The bottom sphere shape part replicates a pepper granule, while the head of the shaker replicates the salt crystal through the sharp triangular form. The Krane was designed to comfortably fit and conform into the palm of the users hand and it allows user to easily control the amount of salt or pepper in which they pour out.
2nd Year:
The brief required for an innovative salt and paper shaker to be designed from slip cast ceramics. The shakers had to compliment each other and in a designers own unique way had to replicate the form of either a pepper granule or salt crystal.
In order to gain further inspiration and to know one's limit in terms of the types of forms or shapes one had the freedom to explore, a precedent board of existing ceramic models was conducted.
Further concept refinement of form, structure and shape.
The plaster mold casting after being heated and then pouring slip into the mold so that it can take the shape of the inside of the mold, allowing it to take full shape once set and dry.
