For this assignment I had to choose a magazine centered around design and had to re-create the branding for it. I chose Eye Magazine and from my research I got the sense that they take pride in their love of design, simplicity and strong layouts. For the masthead I created an eye with the letter e to exemplify those characteristics. It is simple, bold and shows that they have an "eye for design".

The whole magazine follows a motif of being simple yet experimental. Size and hierarchy were very important to me when creating this magazine and that is shown on this first page with how the descriptions are so small and occupy their own space while the numbers are massive.

I wanted to use one color and one typeface weight throughout the magazine and push them as far as I can so that the magazine can be experimental and simple. and contrast of size of a heavily recurring motif throughout this magazine.

This is an example of an artists page in the magazine. The sideways image shows the artist in a different perspective and their name is displayed proudly and boldly. 

To display the artwork. One side would feature several pieces while the other side shows two pieces in a grand size. The descriptions of the work are one one line and there is plenty of white space to keep the simplicity theme.
