Printmaking Fall 2012

Printmaking
Fall 2012, Cornell University
The first studio I decided to take as a freshman was ART 2301 - Introduction to Print Media.  I had some experience with the medium, but I wanted to explore further into techniques and skills specific to different forms of printmaking.  The first segment of the course was focused on intaglio.
INTAGLIO
After learning the various intaglio techniques, we had to do a research project based on an exhibit in the Herbert Johnson Museum called "Mirror on the City."  A main concept in the show was using printmaking to depict places people couldn't physically visit at the time.  I translated this message into how we currently view places we can't visit, but I used the same method of intaglio printmaking that's existed for hundreds of years.
