Bigg Dimm a' Band | Logo and illustration
Bigg Dimm a'Band is a jazz orchestra of academically trained musicians, all of them alumni of the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca.
The logo I created is meant to lend itself easily to poster titling so for that purpose the lettering had to be very expressive but also readable. I found that the best way to write it was on two rows but for that to work, an element had to be added to balance out the composition. The character I added is a stylized, "jazz-ified" portrait of Gheorghe Dima, famed Romanian composer and founder of the Music Academy.
Based on the same lettering I also created an illustration meant to be used cropped, enlarged, transparent, as background for text, on posters or in any other situations.
