Instructional Video: How to Fold an Origami Crane
The project was to create an instructional video that was 3-5 minutes in length. The audience was anyone who wanted to learn how to make an origami crane. GarageBand, iMovie and Keynote were used to create the final project.
The project was built in four different phases. First, the script and storyboard were created. Next, two rough cuts were created without sound. Then, the intermediate cut was made including sound and audio. After that, the final cut was launched with all shots, sounds, audio, and music cleaned up for final use by learners. Lossy compression was used to not impact buffering on the Learning Management System.
Prework, Production and Post Production
The project started with a simple storyboard and script. This type of storyboard includes shots with the actual script that allows the client to make changes and see a holistic view of the project. The rough cuts to follow were used to show the action taken from the camera. The intermediate cut was much shorter and used to create the final cut with audio.
The following link is to the intermediate cut. The intermediate cut was approximately five minutes and contains no audio. https://youtu.be/Su3plvRjzqM
Accomplishments
The script storyboard combo provided an all-in-one view that was easy to create and made feedback simple. Using different stages (rough, intermediate, and final cuts) helps show progression when discussing the status of the project with clients.
