Gleam is a hanging vacuum formed lamp that combines rustic, minimalistic and industrial aesthetics into one.
The project is focused on understanding the vacuum forming process by designing | fabricating a small plastic lamp.
Process
The process consists of a series of steps that included:
°turning a block of milled | glued poplar on the wood lathe into the desired shape
°cutting the mold in half and mounting each piece on ¾” MDF to create the plug for the lamp
°vacuum forming each half and using the band saw | router to trim the excess plastic
°bonding | refining the lamp shade and finalizing it with a high gloss paint job
