Agency Fight Night

art direction, design
Conceived as a fun, unique event that would bring together Cincinnati's creative community to celebrate it's abundance of top-notch talent, Agency Fight Night pitted three of the city's largest advertising agencies — POSSIBLE, Rockfish and Barefoot Proximity — in teams of seven to see who could generate the most creative ideas under tight time constraints and with no advanced preparation.

I wanted the aesthetic of the event to feel like it could be dropped in to a Palahniuk novel, striking a balance between gritty and refined. Carefully constructing the initial branding in this way led to the gradient palette exploration and development of a system that leveraged warring, duotone animals against strikingly simple type and line work.

From gig posters to social media to video, this all came together for one raucous, January night in a theater at capacity with 300 industry creatives and MLB executives cheering on our no-holds-barred, rapid-fire competition.

The work, which included seven challenges within a couple of hours, was judged by a three-person panel of Reds COO Phil Castellini, MLB CMO Jacqueline Parkes, and Procter & Gamble VP & GM/North America Brand Building Jodi Allen, along with the audience awarding “people’s choice” points during each of the challenges.

I was honored to partake in the festivities for Team Barefoot Proximity, and below are some shots from the evening.
