ARCOLA APPLAUSE

Entitled The Arcola Applause, for a group exhibition celebrating Arcola Theatre in Dalston. This short film was produced as complimentary addition to an original 7 minute sound-design piece. Both aim to highlight the vital role of the audience, and community, in relation to the Theatre. The participatory presence of the audience is identified through the physical act of applause. Field recordings of handclaps form the basis for the sound-design, fused with samples from the Arcola Archives. The film incorporates film footage of the nearby market, the exhibition under construction, and a spoken narrative. Title sequence utilises discarded props from the exhibition.
