Best Shop in the South
My friends at The Paris Market were just named The South's Best Shop by Southern Living Magazine. To Celebrate this exciting news, they asked me to create some lettering to share on Instagram.
They needed the artwork that day and I only had one hour to complete the artwork. With such a quick turnaround, I had to expedite my process. Take a look at the whole process below.
Initial Sketch
Due to our condensed timeline, I had no time to explore many options. They trusted me to create something that would connect with their audience and capture their southern charm. I created one really rough sketch and moved onto the next step.
Skeleton Layout
To speed up my process, I created guidelines in Adobe Illustrator based on my initial sketch. I printed out the guidelines and used printer paper on top to create the skeleton of my final letters.
Final Pencil Drawing
I drew the final pencil drawing on transparent vellum paper taped on top of the skeleton letters and guides. I intentionally colored the letters in very messy to get a weathered feel when I brought the lettering to the next step.
Final Lettering
The final pencil drawing was scanned and brought into Illustrator. I used Live Trace to turn the lettering into vector.
Thank you
