This project started as an experiment in both particle systems, and Houdini's VR camera.
I drew inspiration from Walt Disney World's holiday celebration, hoping to replicate some of the feeling from the show in to a VR experience. I used my Magic Kingdom castle model from a previous project, and used free tree objects from online.
The fireworks were initially created using Houdini's shelf tool, but I found the tool lacking in options. I dove in to the shelf tool's node tree and began to build my own firework simulation based on the structure of the shelf tool. This allowed for more customization and understanding on my end. In the future, I would love to develop this further and create more complex fireworks.
