2016’s ISTD brief — ‘Stare death in the face’ and find out everything there is to know about it. Consider international, societal, scientific, religious, historical, statistical, cultural, literary and poetic touch-points within your research, before determining your approach. Design a publication that ‘visits death’ — a work that will inform and stimulate the intellect whilst pleasing the typographic designer’s eye.
Dance of Death is an artistic genre of late medieval allegory on the universality of death. It is a mirror of society representing all walks of life.
Dance of Death could be traced back to 1463, a painting  during the epitome of the black plaque. Since then, there has been countless new adaptation and new interpretation in art, music and film. Its message was that people are easily driven by temptations hence the painting serves as a reminder that even the highest rank of person may die.

The idea for this experimental typography project is to reflect on the problems that doesn’t appear and the imprints that everyone leave behind.
