IMPACT Philly Project Fall 2015-Spring 2016
This collaborative project was done in partnership with Philadelphia University and Mercy Career and Technical High School in Northwest Philadelphia. This seven month long project was given to 10th grade Business students at Mercy Tech to help solve the challenge of helping the homeless in the city of Philadelphia. The two groups I personally worked with aimed to create an innovative way for individuals transitioning in and out of homelessness to hold personal hygiene products.
My main task was serve as a mentor and contact for the students throughout the project's process. Other tasks included choosing project-specific fabric for both products (scarf with a inner pocket and a drawstring bag), creating sewing patterns for both products, and help sew a total of 25 prototypes of each product
The 25 scarves and bags were distributed to two homeless shelters in the Greater Philadelphia Area. The project as a whole was honored at Philadelphia University's Annual Innovation Gala and won third place in the Audience Choice Award
