GIRL LIKE ME
Girl Like Me is a series of photographs that explores femininity beyond the idealized female form and typical showcasing of Venus represented through art history. The modern Venus is more than just a female character with a body that represents fertility and sexuality. The iconography of femininity through modern media demystified the socially acceptable eroticization of the female body and in doing so led to an important shift in the representation and perception of the body, identity, sex and gender. Therefore, Girl Like Me has a goal to represent femininity that surpasses the chains of traditional gender expectations and norms, showcasing the performative nature of femininity and demonstrating the idea of beauty in all different forms.
