The project is the practice of the concept of “vaporware era (Vaporwave)”. The project centers on abusive power of South Korea's super companies.
Republic of Korea (South Korea) is facing most scandalous political corruption in the history. President Park Geun-hye, the daughter of the dictator, Park Chung-hee, is in the risk of being impeached. The reason why she is faced with this risk is because although she is a president, she passed over the country's top-secret documents without hesitations to a mere civilian to forge the S.Korean society for her greed. She also asked the civilian to check her political decisions one by one and gave all kinds of privileges and preferential treatments. The public and the general opinion could not understand the conclusion that the reason for the full material and emotional support to commit irregularities was because of 'the sense of closeness' and 'friendship'......The mere civilian, Choi Soon-sil is the daughter of Choi Tae-min the shaman who worked with President Park Geun-hye's father to maintain the dictatorship in S.Korea in early 70~80s.
The history is repeating itself.
Remnants of the old republic are ruining current S. Korea.
In Fourth and Fifth Republic of Korea Era is considered one of the darkest time in S.Korea. Due to strict regulation of the media and censorship, the fixation and corruption of Korean culture is living on these days. This also resulted some super companies, and they use their economic power to forge the society to make more profit out of people.
Project: Remnants of Old Republic is sound art and video art piece.
The inspiration of the concept is highly involving internet subculture movement, Vaporwave (also called as Future-Funk).

The consumers were mesmerize by the mass products. The companies start to deceive and fool consumers like a pierrot (clowns). However, people were too late realizing the truth. Because it became part of culture to be fooled by company.
The soundtrack was originally the music from 70s~90s which holds the meaning of sadness of the current society. By remixing it as Vaporwave-style, it represents repetition of the history.
The visuals are found-footage video collage. The found footages were extracted from 70s~80s advertisement of Korean products to portrait mesmerization and the absence of the of Noblesse Obligée toward consumers...
