This project was initially inspired by the fusion of three different and opposing trends or styles: ethnic, neokitsch and futuristic. The following moodboard is the result of my analysis and research of the three at the time the project was developed (2014).

With this fusion in mind, I set myself to finding an inspirational theme for the collection I was about to develop that could well be included under the fusion described above. I came across two artists, each with their own style and techniques, with which I decided I would like to work as a means of inspiration. On the left hand side of the panel, Lydia Shireff's art (http://lydiakasumi.com/); on the right hand side, Kris Tate's art. I translated the designing resources they usually make use of in their projects into constructive resources for my own collection.

The following images show the collection I developed. It is divided in three different lines: Prêt-à-Porter, Experimental and Casual.

The looks were constructed with the initial trends and its characteristics in mind, as well as the constructive resources I identified in the artists' work, but mainly always bearing in mind the 'neo jungle' theme I developed for the project.

Whilst the prints were mainly inspired in wild animals, particularly birds, the materials I used all gave a futuristic feel, such as, plastic, eco leather, and lycra in combination with sheer materials such as organza and chiffon.

The following images show one of the three looks I chose to materialise. I am responsible for the selection of the model, the background and the styling for the photoshoot, which were meant to match the main inspirational theme of the collection.
