The Brief:
Stare death in the face’ and find out everything there is to know about it. Design a publication that ‘visits death’ – a work that will inform and stimulate the intellect whilst pleasing the typographic designer’s eye.
Concept: Murder Culture in South-Africa
Rational:
The concept for this ISTD project was Murder culture in South-Africa. South-Africans stare death in the face on a daily basis and are getting so used to it that they are becoming completely empathetic and desensitized towards death within society. For the execution for this project there was looked at different leading newspapers and how murder in South-African Media is being portrayed on the first page of newspapers, because the first page of a newspaper is where their most important stories are placed. The project was approached as a police investigation and a police file was created wherein the media is being accused for assisting in murder culture.
