TẾT 2017
Illustration
Tết - Lunar new year is the most important holiday in Vietnam, during those day family gathering and celebrating the new year together. This year I have chance to work with different clients to illustrate a part of the Tết culture from the act we practice to the foods we cook during the new year together.

On the 23rd of December in Lunar New Year, Ông Táo - the Kitchen God goes to heaven to discuss the family's situation with the King of Heaven. According to the traditional, a golden carb will be freed and they will turn into the vehicle for the Kitchen God.
During new year, the markets and restaurant are closed so every family have to store stock before it, a normal meal during holiday usually have bánh chưng - traditional rice cake, chicken soup with fresh or dried bamboo shots and spring rolls.

Bún Thang - Thang noodle is an originally food from Hanoi that requires long preparing. In the old days it was prepared on the fourth day of Tet holiday using the left-over foods in the kitchen such as chicken, pork ham, mushroom, dried radish... therefore everything was cut into shreds.
