Taxidermy is the subject of my experimental film Melancholy (Autumn). Set in the end of summer, as the leaves are turning color, this video shows the passage of time, and reminds us that mortality is inevitable. In this film we are confronted by what were once living, breathing creatures, which take on a new tranquil identity now that they have been processed and preserved. Behind each still façade is a story. By projecting shadows on the dead animal I explore the disturbance I feel on imagining the animal’s death
