1920's Collage Book

This is a freestyle 64-page book largely influenced by hand-done iterations. I chose to focus on the topic of 1920's culture, curating content including:  literature written in or about the time period, large celebrity topics, movies, collage work. An exploration with typography and paper type is shown through this project, as well.
A general introduction for the subjects of the 1920's. The left is from my sketchbook, that contains subtopics and serves as somewhat of a table of context for the future pages.
Continuing from the previous page - content wise. Exploration with texture, vogue covers, and excerpts from "Water For Elephants" by Sara Gruen
Creating unexpected alignment / finding parallels in photography
Messing with the axis
continuation of the crooked axis/texture exploration
Found imagery of 1920's newspaper article with overlay typewriter scanned in
interpretation of modern article style
square themed, messy spread
Grabbed only the counters within the letters of the writing, blacked out everything else to create this intricate, ambiguous form
Playing with repetition
A funny part from a book, chosen to reflect a repetitive action
Mirroring opening spread, new subjects that need talked about on the right. Potential for second issue.
Slices from Vogue covers throughout history on the left. Then, reflected and morphed on the right.
A Scott Fitzgerald quote, continued through the next few pages in black ink--separated by sentence structure and topic.
