SYMPHONY for IVORY: Web Site

SYMPHONY for IVORY: Web Site for a Gala Concert
Symphony for Ivory is a fictitious gala event to support World Elephant Day. It was envisioned as cocktails, dinner and symphony concert in the very prestigious Huntington Gardens. The target audience is very wealthy people, particularly older women, who are familiar with the cause, the celebrities and benefactors, and the venue. The web site is, therefore, more about the event than the cause and celebrates with a romantic evening reminiscent of safari days, sitting by the tents, cocktail in hand, watching the slow, languid movements of elephants kicking up dust on their way to the watering hole. This time the safari is not hunting elephants but saving them.
The dark rich color of the web site uses a clean blue, suggesting water, to contrast the mostly warm hues of the pages. This maintains a conservative style and allows more reading of information in the callouts appealing to an older audience. This is in strong contrast to most gala event sites that use a single scrolling page with little information and the about page taking the viewer off site. It was felt that the Symphony for Ivory site should reflect the evening's mood presenting it as a complete experience.
