Cymatics: Wear What you Hear

"Wear what you Hear" Wearable sculptures

These wearable pieces were inspired by Cymatics. Cymatics is the phenomena of transferring sound and vibration into a visible form. There are many ways to do this but I chose to use the Tonoscope method to create the patterns in these sculptures. I had taken the forms and patterns the Tonoscope produced and stretched and distorted sections to create what you see before you.

Imagien the Tonoscope being like a drum with sand or salt sprinkled on top. Then sound is produced inside in different pitches to make patterns.

Copper square wire was used as the base for the plastic cut patterns to fasten to. Taking into consideration the materials, these sculptures are actually comfortable to wear. The wire frame curves round the body in a loose fashion. The wire can also be moulded to the wearers build.
