Over the years I've done many art projects revolving around Parliament-Funkadelic, and here are a few.
PEDRODELIC, by Tym Stevens.
This is an homage to Pedro Bell, the album cover artist for Funkadelic; because I did it in his style, it is often attributed on the internet to him by mistake.
Here is an essay I wrote about Pedro Bell;
it has been quoted extensively by Rolling Stone, George Clinton's website, and others.:
SUN RA, by Pedro Bell/ Seitu Hayden/ Tym Stevens.
A threeway relay: Pedro concieved and sketched the layout, Seitu drew a revised layout, and I did the actual piece in markers, with numerous additions of my own.
This was sold as a limited edition print.
SUN RA II, by Tym Stevens.
I was approached by a European Sun Ra Festival to design a concert poster, and I created this digital art.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS ep cover, by Pedro Bell/ Tym Stevens.
The RHCP celebrated their entry into the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame with a cover songs EP. After Pedro Bell told me an array of ideas, I streamlined the concept with my own layout and details. (Someone above us dropped the ball, and the cover didn't get used.)
SLY STONE, by Tym Stevens.
This digital art celebrates the leader of Sly & The Family Stone.
PARLET 1, by Tym Stevens.
This art nouveau portrait of Parlet, a sister band to Parliament-Funkadelic, is a digital illustration for a forthcoming book on the women of Funk music.
PARLET 2, by Tym Stevens.
This art nouveau portrait of Parlet, a sister band to Parliament-Funkadelic, is a digital illustration for a forthcoming book on the women of Funk music.
