This is my first woodworking project. This is a box with a lid that hinges on the back side. It is made using only hand tools, except for a router to make a slit for the bottom piece and the boards were originally planed and cut slightly wide. The finger joints were made with a chisel and the boards were hand planed down to dimension. I used a hand plane to flatten the corners of the box and I used the hand plane to taper the lid to provide a handle on the right hand side, around the knot in the lid, as seen here.
