Starting the project, the best picture I Could find wasn't by any means symmetrical. I essentially traced one side of the hornet and mirroring it. Here is the basic ground work.
After adding all the details and pseudo-shading the hornet was almost ready. This is the start of the final badge/sticker composition design stage.
The final piece is only meant to have my pseudonym on as decoration. Something added after the project was done but right before posting here is the honey comb pattern behind the hornet. It felt appropriate and seems to tie the piece together since there is already a significant amount of blank space within the hornet's head.
This is one of the first Sticker/Badge designs I made. I wanted to make something alien yet earthly. Something that was virtually disconnected from the Human race. Almost enigmatic.
Decided on the on the Yellow Jacket hornet because it is in and of itself a very aggressive and alien looking animal.
