Every so often an idea is so good that it makes your eyes open in amazement. Such was the case when the American Museum of Natural History developed an iPod Explorer app which museum visitors can download and use to guide them through the museum. It acts as a personal guide, complete with a GPS map of the halls and extensive exhibit information. Because it was so amazing, the museum wanted to make sure they announced it to the public with appropriate fanfare. They came to us with the task of exploring different approaches to marketing this to the public. The result was an extensive presentation of visuals and copy writing that would quickly explain the app to museum-goers. It had to tell a big story in a simple way for all ages. What follows are but a few ideas from the extensive presentation.
