Cooking with an LMS

I began this project with a graphic organizer so that I could better align all of the assignments in Edmodo. This project was designed for a 9th grade Culinary Arts class. This was a multimedia project and proved to be very challenging for me.
This short video clip shows different assignments that the students must complete on Edmodo. The staff members were our taste testers. They participated in a questionnaire on Survey Planet to determine our winning team. I have used Edmodo as a classroom teacher, however, designing an entire unit lesson within a few weeks seemed quite arduous.
Students had to study all safety rules so that they would be ready for a quiz on Edmodo. Trying to find kitchen safety rules for a high school class was not easy. I used my high school daughter as a guinea pig to see if she would lose focus if the material was too elementary.
The students would be given still shots of scenarios that they would determine to be safe or unsafe in the kitchen. I wanted to show how dangerous a kitchen can really be, but the fire department would not have been very happy if I had conducted a "control burn" inside my own house.
I have used Survey Monkey many times and currently use it at work, however, we were to use Survey Planet and it proved to be a little more difficult. The shot below represents the question that was given to faculty members who participated in the judging process.
The losing teams of the cornbread contest, cooked a full meal for the winning team. This project turned out the way I had planned but it was a long process.
