Power in Books (Waterstones)

On May 10th, 1933 student groups at universities across Germany carried out a series of book burnings. Enthusiastic Nazi crowds witnessed the burning of books by well known Jewish intellectuals, scientists and cultural figures. Joseph Goebbels endorsed the students' 'right to clear up the debris of the past'. 

Waterstones is a British book retailer with 275 stores nationwide. In a world where print is suffering, Waterstones believe in the 'power of books'. 

The following advertisement was designed entirely by hand. 15 A3 copies were torn, smoked and pieced back together.
