Cirque de classique - pillbox hats

Cirque de classique
In 1948 a famous artist named Bovil had a vision that a little village in the north of Värmland, Sweden, should celebrate the traditional Lucia-day with a parade.
The parade then fell asleep in the 60's, just to be waken up in 2014 by Bovils son. 2016 the parade named The Lucia Carnival once again rolled the streets in a snow covered village.

My tribute to the carnival was Cirque de classique - a circus wagon.
I wanted it to have a touch of the classics, christmasspirit and festivities.
Red and offwhite, with a lion jumping thru a ring of gold-tinsel "fire".
The circus crew were dressed in vintage fur coats and 40s inspired hairdos, and for the carnival effect I created pillbox hats.
Stylish mustard hat - Base of cardboard, wrapped in cotton fabric and a mustard silk synthetic, decorated with plastic flowers, electrical copper thread and copper thread coverd with silk ribbons.

Candycane hat - Base of cardboard, covered in wrapping strings and decorated with a bow in the same manner and candy canes in a heart on top.

(Candycane hat and) Winter ballerina hat -  Base of cardboard, wrapped in cotton fabric and decorated with plastic pearls and prisms, plastic flowers and electrical copper thread covered with silk ribbons.
