Working with Chef Neil Rankin, the ClayOven team worked to create a large grill for his restaurant, Temper in Soho. The brief was to create an impressive centerpiece in the style of an Argentinian grill. I put forward suggestions to Neil and his design team bring this concept to life, this included creating rendered 3D drawings and technical production drawings for our manufacturing team.

The biggest challenge with such a large centerpiece (4.5x1.5 metres) was the site restrictions, the grill was installed in a basement which required it to be manufactured in sections small enough to fit in a lift, when reassembled it had to look like one continuous unit. This was achieved by using hidden structural supports, and hiding joints with polished welds and tiling.
