The Race (2014)
Project Members: Anna Lopes, Felipe Munoz
Materials: Photoshop, Indesign, Photography, Paper
This book was an exploration of typography and the ways in which it could be visually descriptive and evoke emotion. The text used was The Race by Louis Patrick Leroux. It tells the story of a man being chased at gunpoint by a woman driving in a car behind him. The tone of the story is very tense and urgent and this was represented in the book through a vertical reading format and the use of italics. There were many allusions to animals in the text, as well as a “hunter hunting its prey” dynamic between the two characters and we represented this through photographs of a Lioness; beast character (the woman) dominating over a weaker deer-like character (the man).
