"Culture Couture" Magazine Layout Design

Project Description:
For the fourth and final project of VISC 202 for this semester, we were to create and design a mock magazine, showcasing the works of influential photographers throughout history. The purpose of the assignment was to train the designing mind to think intuitively about all the typographic elements, such as using a leading grid, hierarchy, and composition, that are imperative to the world of visual communication.
The two influential photographers I chose were Ellen Von Unwerth, and Irving Penn, who both have distinctive styles in their approach to fashion photography.

"CULTURE COUTURE"
Editor's Note:
"Culture Couture Magazine is a fashion and culture inquiry, based in Belgium. As the world's leading magazine in fashion and culture, we as a publication, strive to offer the world the latest news in fashion and international pop-culture, as well as informative and intuitive conversation about important figures within the creative world. This issue focuses on the subjectivity of photography. We believe photographers, as image makers, are artists in their own medium of photography. Photographers, as image makers, hold the responsibility of offering and subjecting the viewer to a particular perspective. They hold the responsibility of capturing a moment in the world, and purposing a commentary on  that moment. As Susan Sontag has said in her exert, "To collect photos is to collect the world."
