The objective was to raise awareness for the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge – one of Minnesota’s best-kept secrets – with a 40th anniversary public celebration. The campaign surpassed attendance goals by 40%, 23 million media impressions, 15% Twitter follower increase, 8% Facebook follower increase. We broadened the Refuge’s traditional target audience to young families via Facebook, blogs, parenting publications and influencers. Children visit the Refuge via school visits, and they are the future voters and protectors of the land.
