Intel RealSense Extension for Scratch

Scratch Users Can Now Use Gesture Recognition, Face Expressions and Voice Commands in Their Programs.
INDUSTRY: Education
SKILLS: Product Management, Rapid Prototyping, User Experience
DESIGN:
Powered by Intel RealSense Technology, Scratch users now have simple blocks that enhance their programs with computer vision technologies, like: finger tracking, hand gestures, face expressions and voice commands. After winning an internal hackathon in intel, we have pushed this to become an official product of intel

Tested on a few hundreds of kids. Expert Scratch users make use of the blocks right away. New Scratchers usually take a few minutes to understand Scratch concept, and manage to use the blocks in 10 minutes.

Find out more on the product page.
Carefully Designed, the Kids Didn't Feel the Complexity of the Code Working Behind to Ensure the Blocks are Such Easy to Use.
BUSINESS:
Scratch is the most popular digital environment to teach computational skills, with its 8,000,000 active users. It is used in school systems around the world for over a decade now. Intel RealSense did not have any product in the ed-tech market.

The goal was to create a product that would be simple enough for kids to use, answer the educational criteria of ed-technologies, and open a new market for intel. We have managed to overcome all these challenges.

This project received support from MIT Scratch team, Intel Education and Intel Perceptual Computing Group. The project was shut down for future support in July 2017, two years after its release.
Several Schools and Parents Have Purchased RealSense in Order to Use This Product.
