"Pinpoint Press" for the Summer Publishing Institute

Pinpoint Press
Travel Book Imprint
New York University
Hosted by the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the Summer Publishing Institute is a six-week study of magazine and book publishing, both in a traditional and digital sense. Students participate in presentations, workshops, and strategy sessions given by New York City publishing industry professionals to aid in two major project developments. Whereas the first three weeks include developing a comprehensive launch plan for a magazine brand, the last three weeks include developing a book imprint. At the end of the program, students attend a career fair while also receiving a Certificate in Publishing.

Collaborating with a group of 10 people, I served as the art director responsible for concepting and designing the Pinpoint Press book imprint logo, book covers, and visual identity materials.

Pinpoint Press is a specialty lifestyle travel imprint, dedicated to serving travelers who want to immerse themselves in their destinations in more personal and meaningful ways.
Accolades
Pinpoint Press and its logo, covers, and website received the "Best Website Award," awarded by a three-person judge panel. Judge panelists included Janet Cooke, vice president and group sales director of Knopf/Doubleday, Beth deGuzman, paperback editor-in-chief of Grand Central Publishing, and Bryan Christian, senior marketing manager of Hyperion Books. The criteria for which the awarded was given included bold design and layout, solid branding, and great green arrow usage.
Logo
The Pinpoint Press logo has a to-the-point bold design, which draws attention to the P. The P is working overtime as it serves as the initial letter for Pinpoint and Press. The green arrow serves as the crux of the travel book imprint's brand. As the art director, I aimed to leverage the arrow to aide in brand recognition. Along with prominent, easy-to-read titles, each book cover is photo-based serving to allow book browsers to automatically understand the book's essence.
Facebook Page
When designing the Facebook page cover photo, I aimed to showcase eye-catching travel destinations. Adobe CS6 Photoshop was used in creating this 851 x 315 dimensioned photo.
Twitter Profile
Designing the @PinpointPress background was a delight to make using Adobe CS6 Photoshop. The background showcases the book imprint's three primary titles on the left and provides readers with focus help on the right, thanks to the big green arrow pointing to the latest tweet.
Can I Eat That? Mobile App
Designed in Adobe CS6 Illustrator and Photoshop, I created the concept and design.
