Concept Project: Walking Stick
A friend of mine was diagnosed with Meniere's disease (a disorder of the inner ear that causes episodes in which you feel as if you're spinning (vertigo), and you have fluctuating hearing loss with a progressive, ultimately permanent loss of hearing, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), and sometimes a feeling of fullness or pressure in your ear).
Her doctor said she needed to use a cane/walking stick when when she felt dizzy, so since she already had a trip to Jamaica planned (about a week after her diagnosis), she had wanted to have a wood carver make a walking stick for her there. She then asked me if I could come up with some concept designs for her walking stick, that she could show the wood carver.
These were my friend's initial thoughts:
"I was thinking the handle could be a pink flamingo, there could be some brightly colored flowers and possibly palm trees or a parrot or both. I guess just jimmy buffet it!"
