in memory

dedicated to P. B. W. a k a my dad who has leukemia. this is a story of how I dealt with it.
hand-stitched with pain.
the stitching process. each hole has to be made first before stitching because the cardstock i chose was thick.
moreover, the thread was jumpy and hardly cooperative..
i chose a red thread to contrast with the stark black and white design of the publication. red is symbolic in so many ways-- the red string of fate, the redness of blood (remember the cancer is a blood cancer).  blood is also what binds this together, as the saying goes, blood is thicker than water..
the whole spread. all hand stitched. it is also my intention for the work to look like a quilt/blanket, so i can hide myself behind it and feel safe. it's movable, and in some places the threads unravel. that's fine, because i can't fix everything even if i try.
publication + how it was presented. bound with again, red threads. this is my heart. cut the heartstrings and let the feelings unravel.
