My favorite childhood book is Ferdinand the Bull, a story about a bull who loves to sit peacefully under his favorite cork tree and smell the flowers, despite pressure to fight in the Madrid bull fights.

I designed a narrative pamphlet that shows the different ferocities that Ferdinand endures and overcomes throughout the story. I gathered data on every quantifiable aspect of the story, from the number of flowers Ferdinand smells to the number of ferocious animals he encounters, and much more. The pamphlet itself unfolds twice and unveils the primary infographic: an arena-like visualization where the number of flowers Ferdinand smells is represented by hand-drawn flower illustrations. On either side of that main graphic, I broke down the information further, with graphics explaining several changes in Ferdinand’s life over the duration of the book.
