C-Suite Business Intelligence App
The Project:
Design a BI app for MetTel’s C-suite customers to deliver key performance metrics in a portable format.
The Challenge:
Following the success of our recently launched BI software, I was tasked to lead the design of a minimal app version for our executive-level customers. With quarterly on-site visits from MetTel’s Client Engagement team, the app was meant to function as both a reporting and sales tool, providing a quick overview of the customer's performance while leaving them with a taste of MeTel’s advanced solutions capabilities.
The Solution
With only a brief opportunity to showcase the app, it was crucial that the interface be simple enough for a new user to explore independently. This would guarantee that the app design considered its time-challenged audience while delivering on MetTel’s mission to provide a level of transparency that the network giants wouldn’t offer.
Visually the app had to mark MetTel’s departure from our legacy as a landline consolidator to a next-generation solutions provider, qualified to compete with the major nationwide carriers. It was also a wish of the project’s key stakeholders that the app feel visibly differentiated from the software, suggesting exclusivity to its audience.
Working with the preexisting teal and lime branding of the BI software for consistency, I set out to design a darker and sexier interface alluding to MetTel’s next-generation capabilities. The more current look and feel featured glowing treatments, frosted glass textures and a moodier palette that the app’s smaller format could handle beautifully. The higher contrast palette also served functionally, drawing it’s users in to explore further.
The Result:
Together with a Big Data solutions firm, I designed a show-stopping tool that has proven to be a critical success with its c-suite demographic. The app has been so effectively leveraged by Client Engagement to differentiate from the major networks and to shift brand perception as an advanced solutions provider, that it is frequently used and demonstrated at the telecom company’s sales-focused innovation summits.
