Personal Project / Character Design Contest Submission: Beer Stein contest design submission. In 2004 up state New York brewery Utica Club the owners of the Schultz & Dooley Collectibles put on a beer stein character design contest. My father was a big collector of these beer steins and had always wanted a Hockey Player, so I went ahead and design a hockey player submission. Nothing became of the contest and a few years had past when the stein maker released a Hockey Player that looked an awful lot like my submission. After contacting them about this they awarded me two of the hockey steins at no cost, so in the end I was able to get my father the hockey stein he always wanted. Below is my inspiration, product design art, submission art, a hand colored version of the art that I had framed for my father, and the Schultz & Dooley collectors mug that was created.
