Background:

Central Road and Utility (CRU) came to Standard Beagle to design and develop a website for the company as they did not currently have an online presence. CRU is a company that works in the construction space, but is responsible for building everything under the ground. They are more of the foundation for a building doing earthwork, paving and concrete, storm drainage, etc. Because of the type of work they do, they wanted a very simplistic and modern site that was able to showcase their projects well.
Design Part 1 – Style Guide

When approaching the style guide, I always aim to meet the desires of the client while showing them what we can do that they probably didn’t even think of as well. For this client I designed two different style guides. One with a conservative and reliable feel and another with a modern and trustworthy feel. I achieved this through combining patterns, colors, adobe fonts, and images.
Design Part 2 – Sketches

The client had limited budget, so we decided to scope out the project with just doing design sketches rather than creating wireframes or high fidelity prototypes. I went through several iterations of sketches before we arrived at our final design. We were able to scan in the sketches and do all meetings via video chat in order to collaboratively work with the client in order to meet their needs.
Content Inventory and Information Architecture

I worked with my team and the client in order to come up with the information architecture that would be the most user friendly and simple. We also created a content inventory excel sheet with the pages outlined that we needed content for while also including how it would be organized to make it easy for the client to give us this content.
Final Product

We made some design changes during the development process, but everything ended up very similar to the original designs. The site has great UX with the simplicity of the information architecture and giving just enough information with the content strategy to make it relevant. The client was very happy with the deliverables of a simple site that was very visually pleasing to the eye as well as easy to navigate.
