Tree House Pad
(Inspired by the Rocking Chair and the Peacock Kirigami)
The outcome of the first design project inspired by the convertible rocking chair. The task to create a tree house pad which is situated at least 3 meters above the ground. We can choose our own client for this one, we are even encourage to make our own client but I decided that it will be realistic and more challenging if I have a real client. Hence, I decided to interview a person who is open to the idea of having a tree house pad.

This is a residential house for a family of four. The husband works abroad and the mother is a manager. They have 2 boys, with an age gap of 10 years. The family decided to make this as a vacation house particularly when the father is home from work. They want it to be located near a mountain so they can have picturesque views.

The aim is for the family to feel comfortable and stress-free in their vacation house. And being close to nature is a great way of making this happen.
From the fluidity of the peacock and the rocking chair, I converted it into a geometric pattern. This pattern became the shape of the roof, the accents in the railings and also the shape of the house.
This is the outcome of my design after incorporating the areas and needs of the client. The location is on the foot of the mountain. As much as possible, I want the family to fully appreciate the beauty of their surrounding, hence both sides and the front view have wall to ceiling glass windows. Although they can already see the view from the inside it is still important that they can feel what it is like outside, therefore, I incorporated 2 balconies on both sides of the house. Skylight does not only gives you natural light but also gives a wonderful view of the sky from day to night. The house also has an organic design. The color is very neutral that it somehow blends with its surrounding.

The interiors are simple and lively. The combination of white and pastel colors makes the interior looks bigger and livelier. Wood finishes are also used because wood has a natural way of making the a more homey environment.
Sunken Living Area - Since the concept of the rocking chair is convertible into a table. I made the living area with a contracting floor. The floor will slide until it covers the sunken living area giving the family more space when there are visitors around.
Kitchen - Wood finish for the kitchen to give it a more homey atmosphere. The kitchen has enough space for a person to cook and prepare food for his family and guests.
Children's Bedroom - Since the space are limited, both boys share a bedroom. Instead of having a double deck bed, I decided to give them a bed of their own. The beds are placed apart leaving a hallway in between them that will serve as their boundary.
Master Bedroom - The parents are very simple persons. They do not want anything but a bed that looks like that is floating and a view of the mountain side. The yellow accent wall lightens up the room making it look bigger. The bed is made out of wood that is cantilevered into the wall. The rods on four sides gives the effects as if it is hanging from the ceiling.
