ReGroup 2016 Prayer & Worship Night: Here As In Heaven

There are many forms of worship, including art. In the past, students were able to worship through painting. They painted on 8x11 canvases. This year we wanted to do something totally different. I felt that corporate worship is special so we should have a piece that reflected that. The canvases were individual whereas the mural symbolized unity.
The night was separated into four different ways we should pray: Awe, Confession, Intimacy, Surrender. The different youth pastors would come up and talk about what these things meant. After they were done, music was played and the students could respond through singing or go to the mural. The mural was separated into four sections representing the four topics. After each message the kraft paper was lifted and a new section of white would be revealed. That is when the students can write, draw, or express themselves in anyway they felt.
Art is subjective. I wanted to give the student direction. Whatever section we were on they had to respond in that way. For example, if we were discussing awe the students wrote how they were in awe of God. So on and so forth...
