Ciudad’s origins lay in an initiative created with renowned architect Alberto Kalach to raise awareness for one of the most ambitious urban and environmental projects in Mexico. Unable to
find a typeface that would evoke the city, we designed one, enlisting type designer Georg Seifert (Berlin) to help refine it. We then gave ourselves over to its architectural essence, evolving the font from 2D to sculpture to film. Through this exploration, we discovered that the project wasn’t about the font at all but rather about residing in the space of constant transformation that’s inherent in the cities we live in.
