My first step was to create a textured background which would serve as the decor for most of the animation. I wanted something rough-looking, as well as something to recall the typical pattern of military fatigues.
Next, I worked on the opening credits. My aim was to remind the viewer of old 20th Century showreel footage. At the end of the presentation, a cloud of dust created with Trapcode Particular wipes away the credits, and the textured background appears.
The rest of the animation uses a mix of filmed footage of antique cameras, and archived photographs put in perspective together.
