In Greek mythology, Terpsichore (/tərpˈsɪkəriː/; Τερψιχόρη) "delight in dancing" was one of the nine Muses and goddess of dance and chorus. She lends her name to the word "terpsichorean" which means "of or relating to dance", and is often represented with a musical instrument called a lyre.
For this concept, I was inspired by experimental images from early in the history of photography, as well as the beauty and often surreal absurdity of pin up art and short films. The beautifully talented Lauren Cz takes on the role of enacting my re-imagined Terpsichore, dreaming of fish dancing in the sky while dancing herself upon the aerialist's instrument, called the lyra.
