My work is inspired by many years of observing forms, patterns, and energy derived from nature. Employing both my training as a biologist and artist, I use a unique combination of ink, salt, and water to create abstract images. This novel medium relates to my background in science where the chemistry of elements combine to create something new. The interaction of ink and salt with water and paper yields an enigmatic image that is more indicative of a code or language of nature than its finished product. This transformation of elements is a result of the creative process in action sometimes formed from a concept given to me by a client but mostly they are created without a preconceived idea or vision. I see images emerge in the process and will begin to articulate forms in the medium but it is the viewer which then transforms these images into the patterns and forms that come from their own experiences in life. This transformation by the viewer is what intrigues me most about my work.  The dominant image that I wanted to articulate in this painting is a Lioness though there are other images as well and I would love to hear what you see!
