White Colored Pencil

Nightlife in the sleepless city of Seoul, South Korea is always lively and active. Yet at times, at the two or three early hours of the morning, I’m allowed the luxury of looking out from my room window and seeing a quiet, dark atmosphere. The image is humbling, like a moment at a funeral, yet brings about such a positive sense of calm and solitude. This piece takes after that mood in a combination of brazen and soft strokes of pencil whose harmony evokes almost the fuzziness of noise and the visual vagueness of night. The partnership of the simple white and black further accentuates the bland calm, and even more so by the lone lights lighting up the street for no one in particular.
