Narrative Posters - The Barista

Brief: To design a series of posters that narrates a story of a given occupation, using visual metaphors.

These posters depict the making of a bad cup of coffee by an unskilled and ignorant barista. First frame shows the coffee beans that were used in the process, which are evidently rotten. Rotten coffee beans usually just lose their flavour and colour however, in order to emphasize on it being rotten, it is depicted in a way where they’ll shrink in size and there’ll be worms. Secondly, spoilt milk was added. This is probably one of the worst ways to destroy a drink and cause a tummyache, explaining why the milk in the next frame is seen as 'sour'. Lastly, the cup of coffee that was now made, is seen with an unhappy expression. It has been proven that when people tastes something bad, their mood changes and they start to become hostile. Therefore, leaving ‘a bad taste in the mouth’.
